NC-SARA’s Student Consumer Protections Featured by SHEEO

How Do We Protect Online College Students as Consumers?

With hundreds of thousands of college students facing the possibility of another semester of remote learning and campus closures due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, this is an important time to review critical consumer protections ingrained in our nation’s distance education system to better understand how states and accreditors assure quality . . . I would like to share ways in which the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA) serves as a strong partner to SHEEOs in providing a set of common standards for the authorization of distance education across state lines. This set of common standards helps to support and strengthen state higher education oversight.
